Post status and visibility settings control whether a post or page is live, still being worked on, waiting for review, or limited to certain people.
You will usually manage these settings from the editor, in the Status & Visibility section.
Status vs. Visibility
Status and visibility are related, but they are not the same thing.
Status
Status tells Frame where the content is in the publishing process.
For example:
Is it still a draft?
Is it ready for review?
Is it published?
Is it scheduled to publish later?
Visibility
Visibility controls who can see the content.
For example:
Can everyone see it?
Can only site admins and editors see it?
Does someone need a password to view it?
Some options affect publishing. Others affect access or display. That is why several different settings may appear together under Status & Visibility.
Where to Find These Settings
To view or change the status and visibility of a post or page:
Open the post or page in the editor.
Open the settings sidebar.
Find the Status & Visibility section.
Select the current status or visibility option.
Choose the setting you want.
Save, update, schedule, or publish the content.
The options you see may depend on your role and permissions.
Publishing Status Options
Draft
Use Draft when content is still being written or edited.
Drafts are not visible to public visitors. They can be viewed by users who have permission to edit the content.
Use this when the content is not ready to go live.
Pending Review
Use Pending Review when content is ready for someone else to review before publishing.
This is helpful when one person writes the content and another person approves or publishes it.
Users who can edit content but cannot publish it may see Submit for Review instead of Publish. When they submit the content, it is marked as pending review.
Published
Use Published when content is ready to be live on the site.
Published content is visible to visitors unless another visibility setting limits access.
Scheduled
Use Scheduled when content should publish automatically on a future date and time.
Scheduled content is not visible to public visitors until the scheduled time arrives.
This is useful for announcements, news, campaign pages, or posts that need to go live at a specific time.
Visibility Options
Public
Use Public when the content should be visible to everyone.
This is the most common visibility setting for published posts and pages.
Private
Use Private when content should only be visible to users with the right access, such as site admins and editors.
Private content is not visible to logged-out visitors.
Use this for internal pages, draft reference material, or content that should not be public.
Password Protected
Use Password Protected when visitors should enter a password before they can view the content.
When you choose this option, you will be asked to create a password.
Anyone with the password can view the content, so this should not be used for highly sensitive information.
Display Options
Sticky
Use Sticky to keep a post near the top of the posts page.
Sticky posts are commonly used for announcements, featured updates, or important notices.
This option usually applies to posts, not pages.
Sticky does not control whether the post is published. It only affects where the post appears.
Trash
Use Trash when you want to remove a post or page from the site without permanently deleting it right away.
Content in the Trash is not visible to public visitors.
Items in the Trash may be restored or permanently deleted, depending on your permissions.
Other Statuses You May See
Most users will only work with Draft, Pending Review, Published, Scheduled, Private, Password Protected, Sticky, and Trash.
In some cases, Frame may use other statuses automatically. For example, Frame may temporarily save work while you are editing. You usually do not need to manage these statuses yourself.
Which Option Should I Choose?
Use Draft if the content is still being worked on.
Use Pending Review if the content is ready for someone else to approve.
Use Published if the content is ready for everyone to see.
Use Scheduled if the content should go live later.
Use Private if only admins or editors should see it.
Use Password Protected if visitors should need a password.
Use Sticky if a post should stay near the top of the posts page.
Use Trash if the content should be removed from the site.
