The Events Calendar includes a feature called Series, which allows you to group related events together under a single series page. This is especially useful for recurring events — such as a weekly Bible study, a multi-week seminar, or a series of parent-teacher conference meetings — where visitors benefit from seeing all connected events in one place.
A series can group events with different times, descriptions, venues, or organizers. Recurring events will automatically be grouped into a series, although with the same details across every occurrence.
Creating a Series
There are several ways to create a series: directly from the dashboard, from an individual event, or by creating a recurring event.
Creating a recurring event is usually the most efficient approach. When a recurring event is published, Events Calendar automatically generates a series with the same name, grouping all occurrences together without any extra steps.
Create a recurring event:
Go to Events in the dashboard and click Add New.
Fill in the event title, description, and other details as usual.
Under the Date and Time section, click Schedule Multiple Events to set the recurrence pattern, choosing the frequency, days, and number of occurrences.
Click Publish. The series will be created automatically with the same name as the event.
Create a series manually:
Go to Events, then Series and click Add New.
Give the series a title and description.
Select the events to include. Note that you cannot create new events from the Series page itself, so any events you want to add should be created beforehand.
Click Publish. All associated events will appear under the Events in this Series section of the series page.
Create a new series from an individual event:
Go to Events, then click on an existing event you want to be in the new series.
In the event editor sidebar, locate the Series dropdown.
Select an existing series or type a new name to create one.
Save the event. If you created a new series, you can return to it under Events > Series to add a description or make further changes.
Editing a Series
Go to Events > Series in the dashboard.
Hover over the series name and click Edit.
Update the series title, description, or associated events as needed.
Click Update to save your changes.
Removing Events from a Series
There are two ways to remove an event from a series, depending on whether the event is a recurring event or a standalone single event.
For recurring events:
Go to Events > Series and open the series you want to edit.
Scroll to the Events in this Series section at the bottom of the page.
Hover over the event you want to remove and click Convert to Single. This detaches the occurrence from the series without deleting the event itself.
For single events:
For non-recurring events, the removal process works a little differently. From the Series page, you'll notice there is no Remove option for single events listed there. Instead:
Go to Events and click on the event title to open it in the editor.
In the sidebar, locate the Series field and remove the series currently associated with that event.
Save the event. It will no longer appear in the series.
Deleting a Series
Go to Events, then Series in the dashboard.
Hover over the name of the series you want to remove and click Delete.
Note that deleting a series removes the series grouping itself — it does not delete the individual events that were part of it.
