Searching further if needed: If your ISP doesn't have the answer, the request gets passed along to other DNS servers, working through a system that includes root servers, TLD servers, and the domain's authoritative name server.
Finding the right address: The authoritative name server for the domain provides the correct IP address for the web server hosting the site.
Loading the website: That IP address is sent back to your browser, which connects to the web server and loads the site for you.
