Risk Assessment


The purpose of a risk assessment is to identify and minimise the risks to:
  • the child/person who is the subject of the allegation
  • other vulnerable people with whom the person subject of allegation may have contact
  • the person subject of allegation against whom the allegation has been made
  • the church both local and corporate

The following issues are considered:

  • Should the person subject of allegation remain in their current position?
  • If the person subject of allegation continues to attend a church who will monitor their behaviour?

Factors to be considered in the risk assessment include:
  • the nature and seriousness of the allegation
  • vulnerability of children the person subject of allegation would be in contact with
  • the nature of the position occupied by the person subject of allegation
  • the level of supervision that can be given to the person subject of allegation
  • support for the person subject of allegation and the local church and minister
