Risk Assessment
The purpose of a risk assessment is to identify and minimise the risks to:
- the child/person who is the subject of the allegation
- other vulnerable people with whom the person subject of allegation may have contact
- the person subject of allegation against whom the allegation has been made
- the church both local and corporate
The following issues are considered:
- Should the person subject of allegation remain in their current position?
- If the person subject of allegation continues to attend a church who will monitor their behaviour?
Factors to be considered in the risk assessment include:
- the nature and seriousness of the allegation
- vulnerability of children the person subject of allegation would be in contact with
- the nature of the position occupied by the person subject of allegation
- the level of supervision that can be given to the person subject of allegation
- support for the person subject of allegation and the local church and minister
